Cottage Food Law Statement

Sweetgrill Cookiessz operates under the Texas Cottage Food Law (Texas Health and Safety Code § 437.001–.027). This law allows individuals to prepare and sell certain non-potentially hazardous foods—such as baked goods—from their home kitchens without the need for a commercial kitchen license or routine health department inspections.

Because we operate under this law, our kitchen is not a commercial facility and is not inspected or licensed by the state or local health department. However, we follow strict hygiene and sanitation practices to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness and food safety in every batch we produce.

All of our products are made in a home kitchen and are clearly labeled in accordance with the requirements of the Texas Cottage Food Law. Labels include our business name, contact information, product name, ingredient list (including potential allergens), and the mandatory disclosure statement:

“This food is made in a home kitchen and is not inspected by the Department of State Health Services or a local health department.”

We take pride in maintaining transparency and accountability at every step of our process. Operating under the Cottage Food Law allows us to stay small, local, and hands-on—ensuring every Cookie Waffle we bake meets our own high standards for quality, safety, and taste.
